before and after,

Tuesday, December 20th, 2005

On Friday I was doing something on the Internet and had Eden on a blanket on the floor rather then her play pen.

This is where she was when I left her.

This is where she was after I turned around. Of course these are reenactments that Eden did for me. She rolled off the blanket about four times and almost got to the couch once. Lilah wanted Eden’s headband on her, that’s why she reliving the 80’s with her yellow head band.

Friday night we set up our Christmas tree and here is a picture of Jon and Lilah.

This is a lady bug ornament that hums a very quick and partial rendition of “Hark the Herald Angels sing.” It hasn’t annoyed us yet to the extent that we need to move it. But I’ll be surprised if it still works after this Christmas.

Saturday Jon put some lights up and I finished my Relief Society lesson. It went well. I just wasn’t as prepared as I like to be, plus it was just hard for me to figure out what they were meaning by the discussion questions and what not. We did Chapter 10 in the David O. McKay book, because of Joseph Smith’s Birthday on the 23rd.
Sunday we also had FHE at the Lee’s house. Their oldest, Kelsey was singing in their youth stake choir and had a solo, so we went and supported her after we ate. I made some delicious rolls for dinner. I say they were delicious because everyone likes them, not because I’m big headed about my cooking.

Monday I made lots of cookies, today I’ve done lots of cleaning and cooking and then more cleaning and cooking. My back aches because of needing to lean over just enough to not be able to stand straight, but enough that it really starts to ache, if that makes sense. I’m a little tired, and I still should make some more cookies tonight. Will someone come to my house and bake for me. Tonight I think I’ll do peanut butter cookies. Those sound good.

weekend horrors

Tuesday, December 13th, 2005

So this weekend was interesting, besides the grocery store I had even more fun on Saturday.
I had just washed my hands and was drying them when my wedding and engagement rings came off, the engagement ring went next to the toilet and the wedding band went down the drain of our sink. It doesn’t have a drain stopper, the previous owners must have lost it, and we haven’t bought one, so I lot my ring down the drain. It has some diamonds on it, but I was grateful that it was it not my engagement ring that went down. I’ve lost weight in my hands since we’ve been married, coupled with losing weight since the baby, and the winter months which cause smaller hands, so the rings slip off. I usually wear them on my right hand, because that finger is slightly bigger, but I accidentally put them on my left hand Saturday. So we had to get our only wire hanger, which holds Jon’s ties, and try to get it down the drain. When Jon had taken off the whatever you call it, curve pipe part, it wasn’t in there, so we had to push it down the drain. We had lots of gunk down there. It was disgusting! So we did get it back. Yay! Anyways after we were done getting the rings we noticed what Lilah was doing. Playing on the bed with the ties.
She actually was also standing on the bed and throwing them up in the air, but she decided she just wanted to sit when we started taking pictures.

I swear she is happy in this picture.

Jon decided to keep taking pictures of her after the ties were cleaned up.

This was just so Eden wasn’t feeling left out. She’s amazed with mouths, as most babies are at some point.

So that was Saturday. Jon also wanted me to post about Lilah’s “Mommy has a poopy finger” comment. Which I don’t really want to remember this for the rest of my life, but hopefully some soon to be mother or already mother will get a laugh out of it.
Jon had just changed Lilah’s diaper and was about to take it to the toilet to flush the poop. (We’ve started this routine for two reasons- 1) to show Lilah that poop goes in the toilet for when we really start to potty train her. 2) because if the poop is in a flushable state- ie. not to runny but a regular…. how do you say… firmness, we flush it to help the room not smell like poopy diapers. It really has made playing in their room much more enjoyable.) Anyways, Jon was going to flush it so I was taking over and had the new diaper in my hands and I started to put in under Lilah’s bum and my right pointer finger ran into the poop. Jon simultaneously realized the poop was not in the diaper anymore. I think the open diaper had blocked my view of the poop, so until I ran into it I didn’t see it. So I had to go wash my hands, and Lilah made the comment that “Mommy has a poopy finger.” Jon thought it was hilarious. I still can’t eat with my right hand. Well I can and have, but it was gross.

One week to go

Wednesday, December 7th, 2005

Next week are finals. Hooray!! I have lots of studying I need to do, but I’ll be relieved once the semester is over. Then I can dedicate my time to sewing curtains, and not feeling guilty when I get on cleaning spurts, when I should be studying. Like last week I got some clothes together to take to D.I. (Deseret Industries), 13 shirts, 4 sweaters, 2 skirts and 8 pairs of pants. We have yet to take them there, but they’re together. It was nice to clean out a box of clothes in our closet. It’s just cloths that I don’t wear, but have in case I need them, but I don’t like them, so why keep them, especially when we have such limited space. We keep all the kids clothes because they were born the time of year. I just don’t know what we’ll do we we have a third, and if it’s a boy or born in a different season then the clothing we have.
Anyways, I look forward to the extra time I’ll have starting next Thursday, though then I will probably be doing lots of baking and some shopping for Christmas.

Lilah is so funny nowadays. She uses the word probably with everything. “Eden will probably get her clothes on.” “We’ll probably blow bubbles tomorrow.” Probably will have raisins for lunch.” She uses it correctly most of the time, except if you count when were are definitely going to do the action. She’s just cute. She also says “Nope, I don’t want to Mommy.” instead of just saying no. I figure at least she’s polite. She loves to play pretend too. She’ll “make” a cake and then sing happy birthday, one day we sang to the hamper and the ceiling fan, and then we blow out the candles and eat the cake. I love seeing her mind grow and experience new ideas, because that type of pretend is lost on children younger than two.

Here are some recent pictures of Eden. She’s our “I’ll chew on anything” baby. Everything goes to her mouth. Lilah wasn’t so much that way. She’s also holding onto her toes nowadays, if she had the strength to get them to her mouth, they’d be there I’m sure.

Weekend and pictures

Monday, December 5th, 2005

Here’s Lilah helping Jon to water the bushes on Saturday. The hose actually doesn’t reach to the bushes, so we went for watering the area closest to them.

Here are our girls on Thanksgiving morning. The pumpkin is there so we can positively know what day it was.
We didn’t have any pictures that show Eden’s dress really well on the website, so here is one. My mom made the dress and she also crocheted the blanket she’s on.

This was just cute. I got here right as she was smiling. (both pictures taken on Septmebr 26, 2005)

Well, the weekend was fun. Saturday Lilah and Jon worked on the yard. Lilah and I also went to a show that my friend Anna’s husband produced for their Baptist church. It was fun. Lilah liked petting the pony and goat the most.

Sunday we visited Jon’s parents. We try to visit at least once a month on Sunday. It was every other week, mine one week, his the next, but now it’s nice to have some Sunday’s to ourselves, so we go once a month or so to both. They enjoyed seeing Lilah and Eden. Lilah always has Grandpa take her outside, and she always has Grandma read her a book, or play the organ. She knows just who to go to for what she wants.

Today we had Eden’s four month checkup. She weighed in at 14 lbs 6 oz. and was 25 1/4 inches. She’s actually a little big for her age.
We then went up and visited my mom. Howie and Kaitlyn were there later that morning, so Lilah had tons of fun with her cousins, especially Howie. Anytime she needed anything it was Howie come here. He’s five, so with him being a little older, I think he’s more aware of her and isn’t to selfish. I think she’s just use to being the only one or playing with people who understand her. My sister also told me how Howie insist that they name their new baby sister Lilah when she comes. She’ll tell him that they already have a Lilah in the family and he’ll reply, “No, Lacey has a Lilah, not us.” We’ll see how disappointed, or insistent, he is when the baby comes in March. ๐Ÿ™‚

Pictures

Thursday, December 1st, 2005

Well I’ve decided to put up some pictures.
I also remember what Jon and Lilah did on Saturday. I was inside studying and taking care of Eden while they did yard work by pulling up weeds. You can’t to well, but Lilah was covered with dirt and dust.

This one came out fuzzy, but you can see her pants.

This is the tub after Jon gave her a bath. He found twigs in her hair also.

Here are some halloween pictures. Lilah’s skirt also has the poodle on it. Jon just wasn’t able to get it in the picture.

Here is scary Lilah in the glow of the candle from our pumpkin with a glow stick….I know it looks like a mini light saber, but we are responsible parents. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Unrecognizable

Monday, September 12th, 2005

So I wanted to show you guys the before and after of my hair cut.

Before

After- I really just like this picture.

But this one shows the hair better.

We visited our old ward yesterday to show everyone Eden, and people didn’t recognize me until I started talking to them. Some did but it took a few seconds usually. I admit I like the shock factor of everyone being surprised that I cut off so much hair.

Brien (Andrea’s boyfriend, Andrea is my older sister for those who don’t know) came to the BBQ and didn’t know who I was at first. Then at the blessing Shawn ( A good family friend, or adopted brother who has known me since I was like five. ) saw this woman walking in with a baby and said to his wife “Look at the cute baby.” and Judy was like “Honey, that’s Eden and Lacey.”

Mostly men are disappointed I cut off my hair, but Jon has decided that he decidedly likes my hair at all lengths. Good thing too because I plan on growing it out again and cutting it off again, and again.ร‚ย  Well, we’ll see how many times I do this, but I like donating it and I like growing it long.
