Today I’m grumpy so I’m trying to be thankful for things that are annoying me today.

I’m grateful for….

1. Dishes to eat and cook off of.
2. A home to live in.
3. Toys for my children.
4. A husband who has a job to go to.
5. Being a stay at home mom.

The truth….

1. My dirty dishes have been piling up a lot.
2. My house is dirty and chaotic.
3. My children’s toys have not been getting picked up lately.
4. My husband was annoying me by leaving a little late this morning when I had so much to do, when usually it doesn’t bother me what time he leaves. He’s also been working a lot and it’s starting to get to my sanity
5. I’ve been with the girls 24/7 without any time alone lately. Play rehearsals are time alone, but since I’m not accomplishing anything or relaxing, they sometimes don’t count, it depends on my mood.

The up side….I get to leave the house for a couple hours tonight to go pick out fabric and be ALONE! Also, all the things on my truth list are things I can change and have control over how I feel and react to.

It’s been a while since I’ve listed anything I’m thankful for. This posts is about two of my very dear friends. I’ve become close to both of them over the past few years and it’s funny because they’ve never met, but as one gets ready to be a stay-at-home mom I know their paths will soon cross.

1. I’m grateful for a friend who will bring me milk when I am all out and don’t want to leave my house.
2. I’m grateful for a two friends who always have listening ears when I need someone to talk too, or in some cases willing to read since I instant message with one throughout the week.
3. I’m grateful for a friend who loves my girls so much and loves to go to the park with us during her lunch hour.
4. I’m grateful for a friend who lets me hang out at her house for no reason at all.
5. I’m grateful for a friend who comes to me with pregnancy questions, even if it’s been nearly five years since I was pregnant.

Thank you for being my friends, you both enrich my life and help me to be a better mom, woman and I hope a better friend too.

Thanks

I realize I haven’t done my 5 things for a little bit. This is mostly due to being busy, sick, or just out of the habit.

Since it was Thanksgiving I thought I’d do my list of 5 things, but with the twist that it’s about friends

1. I’m so grateful to have a friend who invited me to the temple with her. I haven’t been in far to long and I’m happy she thought to ask me to come with her on her monthly excursion.

2. I’m grateful to have a friend who loves my girls and watched them for part of our lunch so I could go buy presents for them. I cherished hearing that she would love to watch them because she loves my girls and spending time with them. (She also loves children in general, but I like to think she likes mine a little moreร‚ย  than the others, at least until she has her own.)

3. I’m grateful for a sister/ friend who let me and the girls just hang out with her for hours since I needed to be somewhere other than my home so Jon could study in peace and quiet. She did this yesterday and today.

4. I’m grateful for friends who support me in homeschooling and help me out when I’m struggling.

5. I’m thankful for new friends that I meet and help me on this journey called life.

I find myself wondering what a future friend is doing right now and who I might become closer to in the future and how we will help one another in our lives.

I realize I have a lot to be grateful for and am so happy to have so many wonderful people who are a part of my life.

I just hope I can be as thoughtful and kind as those who I encounter and those who show me love through the small actions they make towards me or my family.

1. Motivation to do something new.
2. Jon and his computer skills.
3. Jon’s support and ideas.
4. Two daughters who want to help and are excited for me.
5. I’m happy to venture into the unknown, at least unknown for me.

1. New ideas and self-motivation.  I’m just starting something, and it’s still in the works, but I’m feeling good and wanting more for my family and myself.
2. Fall in Las Vegas. So Fall in Las Vegas means: cold, hot, cold, hot, cold, finally cold. We’re not to the finally cold weather, but I do enjoy that we have warmer weather at times. I don’t like layers. I find them annoying.
3. Wonderful daughters who make me smile each day.
4.  A supportive husband. Jon always amazes me at how supportive he is. I shouldn’t be surprised by now, but sometimes I still am.
5. Sisters. I’m glad to have three wonderful sisters.

1. Breezy days.
2. Days full of family time.
3. Morning kisses.
4. Kids who are easy to entertain.
5. Thoughtful and nice mail people.

Other thoughts:
Eden the other day was having trouble pulling up her pants and underwear so I was saying her bum was telling me to spank it, or in this case, also kick it gently once the pants were on. Being the literalist she is, she told me her bum doesn’t talk, it poops.

There are a ton of 6 years olds in the co-op with Lilah. Today one was sharing the lunch table with her and she asked if Lilah would be her friend and then she also said Lilah looked really smart. It’s really interesting watching how kids interact.

1. A wonderful husband who loves me for me.
2. I’m grateful I got to experience this moment yesterday. As I packed the girls into the car after the co-op I heard Eden ask Lilah, “So Lilah what did you learn today?” in a very serious and cute voice.
3. I’m thankful for two healthy girls. We had their yearly check-up and they’re both normal and growing fine.
4. I’m grateful for my healthy body. I know a few people with crazy health problems and I’m happy mine don’t require major surgery, just exercise and minor sutures.
5. I’m so excited for the Holidays coming up. I don’t know what to get anyone for Christmas and we don’t have a lot of time till it’s here, but I am just so excited. (This might also be because I’m not making any costumes. Eden will be Jasmine and Lilah a fairy and she’ll use her costumes from the play. I’m so getting off easy. I do want Lilah to be Alice in Wonderland one of these years though, so I am tempted to make that this year before she gets too old.)

This week has been strange. On Monday I could only think of three things I was grateful for so I didn’t want to post, but I’ve found a couple more things and now can post a complete list.

1. I’m grateful for a husband who understands me and doesn’t mind my slumps. Well, he might mind them, but he’s understands that I need time and tries not to put extra demands on me, he even reminds me that with changes I only need to focus on little things and taking baby steps. He’s so wonderful.
2. Children who don’t have an anger issues. I had to deal with an interesting child on Monday and it makes me realize how lucky I am that I have normal kids without behavioral issues, though we still have the teen years ahead of us.
3. The cooler weather. It’s still hot, but I look forward to the not so hot days and cool nights. The girls and I can start taking walks again.
4. A good friend who watched my girls for four hours while I mostly just waited at the doctor’s office for a 20 minute procedure. Her daughter is also in school, so it wasn’t even classified as a play date/ babysitting, it was just babysitting.
5. Daughters who cleaned up after themselves at their friends house, without needing to be asked. I reminded them that they needed to clean up after themselves since their friend wouldn’t be there and I’m just really happy they listened. Now I just wish they would do that at home.

Also, little girls who run around in their pretty pink dance leotard. Eden’s just so dang cute right now, even if she won’t dance for me and I told her she had to if she wanted to wear it. She just doesn’t believe me for some reason.

1. Killer Ant Bait….I found what my bug man uses and we’ll see if it works since I’ve only had it 20 minutes, because it’s not exactly what he uses, but it is the same brand. They were gone and now they’re just starting to trickle back. Darn ants.
2. Glasses. I’d be blind and useless without them.
3. How Eden tickles. She likes to use her hair and she’ll tickle inanimate objects like Jon’s laptop.
4. Lilah and how she always tries to surprise me. One day I walked to the mail box then there was a light touch on my arm and I jumped because I hadn’t notice her follow me outside. She thought it was hilarious, and it was the first time she truly completely surprised me.
5. Jon and his willingness to work hard and help me. He did the dishes recently and I’m so thankful he did, even though I’ve resigned to him not doing any of my chores while he’s in school.

5 things- Pine Valley Style

Monday, September 7th, 2009

So the girls and I went to Pine Valley this weekend with Sam, her daughters Britta (5), Matilda (6 months), and her in-laws. Jon was on call this weekend in case they needed something at UNLV, and Sam’s husband wasn’t able to make it either. It was so much fun and I would go all the time if they allowed me and my family to be there.

1. Grandpa Gary, Sam’s FIL, did so many fun things with the girls and just included mine like they were his own. We did call him Grandpa Gary the whole weekend.

2. Grandma Jackie, Sam’s MIL, was also so nice to my daughters and made us feel like family.

3. Sam for inviting us along, even if it was slightly selfish so Britta would have some playmates and wouldn’t need Sam to entertain her the whole weekend. ๐Ÿ˜‰

4. I’m thankful that I was able to let go and tell my girls to get dirty and have fun. They stayed outside 90% of the time, except to eat and to sleep.

5. The beautiful outdoors that Heavenly Father created. I just wish Sam had thought to invite us sooner in the summer so we could have gone more, of course only if we were invited. I’m hoping to go next year with Sam if she invites us again.

Just for fun 6. Talking with friends till late in the night. I think if the husbands go with us they’ll have to sleep in tents outside so Sam and I can talk. It’s so funny how Sam and I never run out of things to talk about.
