Crush

Wednesday, July 16th, 2008

I think Eden may have a crush on Derek, my sister Carolyn’s husband.
Lilah got a play phone as a birthday present and Eden will call Derek or Carolyn on the phone.

Lately it’s just been Derek.

Then today while at the store we were getting things for Eden’s friend party and Eden asked if Derek would be there. She seemed a little sad when I sad no, he would be working. I tried to tell her that he would be at FHE for another birthday celebration.

It’s just funny because Eden is quiet with Derek, but always happy to give the hug goodbye, though she gives anyone a hug goodbye if we tell her and is pretty quiet with everyone lately now that I think about it.

Derek is also a pretty quiet person, but he is friendly with our girls and always says hello and tries to play with them in his quiet way. (He’s not one of those people who does silly things or tickles kids a lot to get them to smile or laugh. He just talks  and lightly tickles and my girls just stare, because well, they stare at everyone, like our mail lady today, and aren’t overly friendly or happy unless they’re in a good mood or know you really well. I could count on one hand the people they’re automatically friendly or themselves with, and yes two of them are Jon and me.)

At least she likes him and wants him around.

The Weekend

Sunday, July 6th, 2008

On Sunday Lilah saw a flyer and asked what is was for. I told her it was for the Stake Fourth of July breakfast and she said she just had to go. I told her it started before she got up and that she’d have to wake up really early. She said I could wake her up.  So we went, even though I wasn’t planning on going. (She even would ask me during the week what day it was. Then on Friday she woke up by herself and was so impressed with herself. )

Some old friends were in town from Texas so it was fun to see them at the breakfast. Other than that the line was  pretty long for food and the girls only ate part of their plates of food. It was a beautiful morning and didn’t get too hot until we left.

We hung out at home for most of the day and then had a birthday party to attend for my niece Katy. Eden did not take a nap because she was too excited for the party.

There was swimming at the party, but the pool was pretty cold since the sun was low in the sky. Lilah had fun floating around and Eden had fun putting cold water on Mommy. Luckily there was a big step  for Eden to play in so I didn’t have to go in.

After cake, ice cream, and hitting the pinata we headed over to my parents house to enjoy fireworks.

The girls did OK for the most part. They sat on laps with their ears covered for a period of time, then they sat in Carolyn’s car and Lilah went inside for the last 15 minutes or so, until sparklers. Lilah really enjoyed the sparklers since they didn’t make any noise. She was weary at first, but once she realized they wouldn’t hurt her she did well and could hardly wait for them to be lit for her once one was finished.
We saw a lot if aerial/ illegal fireworks on the way up to my parents and while we were there. We also had a good view of the Henderson City Hall, which launched fireworks off the top of the building.

It was a fun night and we got home around 11 pm. (Jon came home after the party to make sure our house didn’t burn down from aerial/illegal fireworks going off in the neighborhood. I’m happy to say our house did not catch fire.)

Saturday we went and saw WALL-E. We all enjoyed the movie thoroughly and Jon said that Pixar’s created a robot more lovable than R2 D2. It really has a great message and is wonderful. I almost cried at one part. Pixar is able to do that to me though. (Sometimes I cry during Cars too. )

Lilah had her hands over her ears for the first half hour or so of the movie until she realized it wasn’t too loud. Eden had her hands over her ears for the most part, though she would relax and remove them for short periods during the movie.

My children are very strange when it comes to loud noises. At least they don’t cover their ears with our own toilet anymore.

What I’ve been up to and what is the smell in my house?

Wednesday, June 25th, 2008

Saturday was a little busy. We went to help Jon’s parents house to move their washing machine. It’s broken and broken not because of age but because the floor under it was so unstable and the washing machine had broken beyond repair. They now have to have the floor torn up and the joists fixed and hopefully it won’t kill the new washing machine as quickly. I think this one was like 6 or 7 years old.

Jon also helped clean out the shed out front.  While he did this I ran errands for us and my MIL. I had to get stuff at Trader Joe’s and Costco, and she needed things at Costco so I took Eden, while Lilah stayed and played with her cousins that were in from Arizona, and got us what we needed and what my MIL needed. Her medication makes the heat very unbearable for her and Costco is only open to the public at very hot times.

Sunday Lilah gave a talk in Primary. I’ll have to post it later. Then we had FHE with my family at my parents.

Monday we went to the library to get the Summer reading info. I really just do it for the free Lied Discovery passes for the girls and they enjoy it. We read so much that it’s not because we need motivation.

Tuesday I did a few loads of laundry and cleaned my floors. It’s been over a month since I couldn’t mop and it felt so nice to clean them. Hopefully it will keep the girls feet a little cleaner. Their feet would be so dirty without even leaving the house. We also went to a play called Honk that our friends the Lee’s are in. It was a play/ musical based on the Ugly Duckling. It was really cute and  the girls enjoyed all 2 hours of it.

Today Jon had skin removed and sutured. I’ve also been to the library to get a book for him, to Target and to Smiths.

I haven’t done dishes and my house smells weird. Jon made his beans yesterday, he boils beans for his lunch and adds salsa and cottage cheese to them, and whenever he makes beans the house smells weird. I think it’s the having the water poured down the sink that keeps the scent around if I don’t clean it out. I guess I should do dishes since we have no spoons and only 2 plates. I would buy plastic, but now that I’m better I can do the dishes. If anything I should have bought plastic while Jon was having to do the dishes. Poor guy was never ever able to get ahead and there were always dishes in the sink for him to do.

Videos

I’ve figured out a way to get Google video to work so now I have the four videos I’ve wanted to post for your viewing pleasure.

The first is the piñata hitting– order of the kids: Lilah, Britta, Aurora, Eden, Aaron, Isaak, Katy, Howie, Adrienne and Howie again.  Side note: At the end Eden is the child under the table and she always laughs about being under the table.

The second is the of singing Happy Birthday to Lilah.

The third is of Lilah kicking around the pool and other people in the pool.

The fourth is the video I made to celebrate Lilah’s birthday.

Lilah’s Birthday

Thursday, June 19th, 2008

For Lilah’s birthday we all woke up and had a late start to the day. I showed Lilah the video I made for her, which I will have to add another time and she loved it and watched it twice.

We had a very late breakfast and then got ready to get Lilah’s present.

She thought she was getting swimming goggles because she’s been asking for some, but after much research we decided to get her a pet Betta fish. They’re relatively easy to take care of and can live for a few years.

Meet Blueberry, Lilah’s new pet.

Lilah thought of his name all on her own. She had asked for suggestions so I gave her many names along the Bob and Fred area and even told  her we could name him Blue or Bluey. Once at home she thought of Blueberry and it has turned out to be a perfect name for our new addition. He is also a similar color the the fruit. We made a little name sign and decorated it with some stickers she had gotten for her birthday.
He’s the perfect pet for our family and oddly enough I already feel attached to him. He will come and look at you if you go to his tank and he just seems aware of his surroundings. We really like Blueberry.

After we got Blueberry Lilah and I picked out flowers for her birthday. The night before she mentioned getting flowers in a box, like I had from Jon on our anniversary. I had completely forgotten she had wanted flowers delivered to her on her birthday. She still seemed happy to pick out her own and she choose the Crazy Daisy bouquet.

We then had lunch and tried to get Eden down for a nap. Eden was too excited because we were going to go to Applebee’s and she did not sleep.

We went to Applebee’s for dinner. Lilah had chosen it earlier this month. The girls ate very little of there food that night. They really don’t eat a lot when we’re out. Lilah was too cold and thus unable to eat very much according to her reasoning. It’s funny because our bill with tip was around the same amount we paid for the ten pizza’s we bought for Lilah’s party. I was also reminded that you should never buy a steak unless you’re at a steak house because there is no comparison to the expensive steak I had on my anniversary at Austin’s Steakhouse.

It was a fun family day. Lilah had invited Britta, unannounced to us, so she was sad the her friend could not be at Applebee’s with us, but I think she still had fun.

Father’s Day

Wednesday, June 18th, 2008

Father’s day was a bit of a bust. I was so preoccupied with the party and the lesson that I had to give on Sunday that I didn’t have the girls make anything for Jon and I didn’t make breakfast because lets face it, I don’t get up any earlier than I have to and I was very tired from the previous day.  Lucky for me Jon has very low expectations, I think I keep them low by not doing anything, and he thinks Father’s Day is a manufactured day of appreciation anyways, even though he always does something for me for Mother’s Day and I like it that way.

Anyways. Sunday while at church our organist, and also first counselor on the Relief Society, came up to us to get Jon’s name and tell him how wonderful of a dad he is. She said how she’s watched him from the stand and is always impressed with how he treats our girls.

This isn’t the first time someone on the stand has noticed him. I remember one week he had carried in both girls to Sacrament and the chorister thought it was so cute that he was carrying the girls and also mentioned how he is always so loving towards the girls. The organist in our old ward also loved to watch the girls and said Jon was always so good with them.

Jon is a great dad and I appreciate all the love he gives our girls and patience he has with them and myself.

Happy Belated Father’s Day my love.

Jack Jack gets attacked.

I’m watching Jack.

Jack is my BIL Brien’s Jack Russell. Andrea and Brien are at a dentist appointment and wanting to leave town afterwards so I’m watching him. He’s a great dog and actually very patient with kids, even though he doesn’t always play with them since they can’t throw far or play tug a war.

Lilah played with him Saturday night and he seemed to enjoy it and she was more fearless. She actually would pick up the ball from him instead of waiting for us to get it for her.

Well, I played a little outside with Jack, but I can’t do tug a war so I’ve left him to the girls. Eden’s following him around and playing with his tail. I really can’t believe how patient he is with the girls and he hasn’t nipped at them once.

Lilah’s tried to play fetch with him today, but he only has his rope and our yard is smaller so she can’t throw as far for fear of throwing it over the fence.  I’m surprised he hasn’t nipped at her because he will at adults who try to take the rope. He just seems to understand that they’re kids and not to nip them.

He’s actually a pretty low key Jack Russell. He still has lots of energy and runs around, but he’s not as hyper as most.

I would also have Zarina except my shoulder doesn’t allow me right now, so I’m a little bummed. Luckily they’ll have to visit and play with Jack to get some of his energy out for the trip home.

She is so cute and chubby. She’s almost as cute as my girls were, and she behaves just as well. 😉
I’m sad that she’s far away, but always happy to see her and her parents when we can.

Eden loves Jack, but she’s still to little for his taste of playmates.

Lets see how busy we can be.

Monday, June 9th, 2008

Saturday was a pretty busy day. It wasn’t that busy but it was still a lot for a Saturday for our little family.

Lilah had a primary activity that morning. I was kinda slow at getting ready so we were a little late. They were playing water games. Lilah hurt her fingers while they did a giant water balloon toss, as in it was a giant water balloon getting tossed over a net and being caught by the kids holding nets. Her and the other little kids played for a while and then decided it was too much so they came over and squeezed water from sponges into a bucket.

Then they did a game with passing the soaked filled sponges down the row to fill the bucket. Poor Lilah got soaked and was freezing since they were in the shade. She came to get warm before the game was over because she was shivering and not having much fun, even though had she been warm I’m sure it would have been fun.

Britta saved Lilah a seat by her so they ate lunch together. It was a fun morning. I stayed at the activity because I just hate to leave her there for some reason. I know she’d be fine and get by without me, but I just like staying and watching and helping if I can.

We came home and I tried to get Eden down early for her nap, but she still fell asleep around 2. I put on a movie for Lilah and Jon went grocery shopping. Right after I put on a movie the girl from across the street, or Jessica, came over. They’ve been playing together a lot and even though I tried to say now wasn’t a good time it was too hard to say no and I let her in. (She’ll just stand there and wait sometimes.) Shortly after her older brother, around 7 or 8, came by and they started playing with the blocks and different toys. They stayed pretty quiet because I asked them to since Eden was asleep, but poor Lilah couldn’t hear her movie and she just wasn’t interested in playing. Jessica kept asking when Eden was gonna wake up so I had to keep telling her that it would be a while and once Eden woke up we would be leaving anyways.

Eventually the brother left and then Jessica.

We got ready for our date and woke Eden up so we could take the girls to a BBQ and leave them with Carolyn to be babysat.

We got there, said hello, ate and then left to see Iron Man. I wasn’t sure if I was gonna like it, but mostly because I couldn’t see Robert Downy Jr. as a super hero, but I loved Iron Man and highly recommend it. Just make sure to stay till the very end of the credits.

We stopped off at Coldstone on the way back to my parents, where Carolyn had taken my girls, and then chatted with family and got the girls.

Funny things about the BBQ.

It was a work BBQ for Carolyn and families were invited. My mom went because she was invited since she’s worked there as a receptionist for Carolyn’s part of the office. We were invited because the women at the front desk love my girls. They had a jumper or bouncy thing and there had been some older boys and kids playing in it for a while. They were being quite rough and the girls and other little kids had wanted in. Carolyn told them to get out so some little kids could go in and so they got out and then got their parents. She told the parents that they boys were being too rough and had been in for a long time and needed to get out so some little kids could play in it. I just love Carolyn because I don’t know if I could have done that.

The girls were also given suckers as they were leaving the BBQ. Lilah had eaten hers and was blowing air through the stick. I guess Eden asked what she was doing or what it was and Lilah told her it was a whistle. Eden said she was smoking hers. Lilah told her it’s not nice to smoke but Eden insisted that she was smoking her sucker stick. I’m not sure where she got that idea.

A little late

In April we went up to Utah for my cousins wedding.

Here’s when we saw Zarina before the wedding.

The girls love her and had so much fun rubbing her head, holding her hands, letting her touch them and touch their soft dresses.
It was too cute and that is why I have a lot of pictures from it and a video.

I love the last two because of Lilah’s smile and then in the last one you, or at least I, can tell that Eden has a smile on her face.

Here’s how cousins interact when one’s a baby and the other two love her.

Just kidding

Wednesday, June 4th, 2008

I thought I’d be home all week doing nothing so I’d be able to blog, but uh, I haven’t.
I’ve decided my scar will be big no matter what and that sitting at home is no fun.

Tuesday at 10:30 am they have story time at the library within the Springs Preserve so I thought it’d be fun to go, plus we could visit Jon’s parents and then hit Trader Joe’s ’cause they’re all relatively close together and I only needed light things like bread and crackers.

So we went to story time. The grandma aged worker, or around 70 aged worker, read stories and then began interacting with the family of three kids and a mom that had been there when we got there. The worker/ volunteer was interacting with the other three kids and not talking to Lilah, like at all. Eden was by me and not wanting to sit at the table so she wasn’t there to ignore.  I felt like it was a little awkward  and left, but I’m pretty sure that the three board books she read was were all she had planned since the last book was read at the request of the little boy.

We had fun and visited the places the girls love. Lilah was a huge help. She carried all we needed in her back pack, otherwise we wouldn’t have been able to go. She did leave it behind one time and we had to retrace our steps to find it.  I don’t mention that she forgot the bag to others while she’s around because it was an honest mistake, I forgot it too, and I want her to remember how much she helped me and not that she almost lost the backpack.

We went to the Blake’s for lunch and the girls had fun playing. Lilah ate two pieces of half corn on the cobs and finished Eden’s off. That has got to be her favorite way to eat corn, or any food.

I then got a little lost looking for Trader Joe’s and had to call Jon to look it up for me. We got there and it went mostly OK. I was the mom letting my kids run a little wild in the frozen food area. They were just being silly until they almost tipped over my cart by climbing onto the side of it. Then they stayed by my side.

Today I did a number of errands in my Target shopping center. The girls got pretty good at staying by my side once we got to Target, we’d gone to three other stores, and they behaved the best they ever have in Target, at least for not being in the cart. The worst part was the heavy shopping cart that I had too push.

I’ve left all the stuff in the trunk for Jon to get out when he gets home. Most of the bags would be fine for me to lift with my left arm, but I’m too lazy and Jon would want me to wait anyways.

Britta had made gifts for Lilah and Eden so they came by this afternoon. The girls played and Sam and I talked. It was nice since she wasn’t up to doing much and I’m not suppose to do much.

I also had my car washed this morning and it rained this afternoon.
